Five Star Award Night

During each summer month our supervisors hand-pick lifeguards in their area to achieve a “Five Star” status. These chosen guards go above and beyond their daily lifeguarding duties and are recognized as role models among their peers. We wanted to honor our Five Star lifeguards this year and celebrate their hard work by inviting them to our First Annual Five Star Awards Night at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hamilton, NJ on August 15, 2011.

Over one hundred guests attended the event, including our June and July Five Star Lifeguards, our regional managers, supervisors, office staff and upper management. A collection of photographs taken throughout the season was displayed on a slide show while the guests enjoyed a buffet style dinner.

Each region’s manager announced their chosen Five Star Guards for their area and described the value the guards have brought to our company. Russel Lane, one of the co-owners of Sparkling Pool Services, Inc. along with Heather Mount, our emergency readiness evaluator, also spoke about the significance of our guards and how each of them have made 2011 a successful season.

To end the night two of our Five Star lifeguards, who both wrote essays on the importance of the “Are You Ready For Your 3 Minutes?” program, were selected to win a $500 scholarship, which can be used at the college of their choice. Our first winner, Anna Augustin, has been lifeguarding for Sparkling Pool Services, Inc. since 2009 and has been an incredible addition to our Pennsylvania East area. Our second winner, Jeffrey Bauer has been a recent addition to our team, joining our Monmouth County pools in 2011.

We were also able to recognize three additional lifeguards, Zachary Edelman, Jennifer Bacci & Ali Husnain. These three guards all helped save a life at one of our pools this past summer and were awarded the Golden Whistle Award. They truly portray what it means to be a “Five Star Guard” and why the role of a lifeguard is of vital importance to our patrons.

The night was extremely successful and we are proud to honor each of our Five Star guards for summer 2011!
